Flight of Fancy was completed in Parpansali in November 2015 by American RaumArs artists Suzanne Morlock and Glenn Messersmith, and lace artist Tarmo Thorstöm from Rauma. The work representing Rauma's maritime history and lace-making was made of steel pipes and aluminum wire.
Soon after its completion, the work suffered vandalism. In the original plan, the material was a rope, but due to lack of time and resources, this had to be abandoned. The ropes were replaced by aluminum cable, which, according to Thorström, turned out to be a little less of a good idea, because the rigidity of the wires forced the scale of the lace to expand to that its structure no longer came out in the best possible way.
In the summer of 2017, Thorström began the process of redesigning the work, purchased two kilometers of rope, presumably made world's largest lace "pillow" and began bobbin. The new lace was completed this spring.
