Catriona Shaw. Freeze frames, 2006

Catriona Shaw (b. 1975 in Scotland, lives and works in Berlin) works in Raumars Artists-In-Residence programme from November 4 till January 31, 2006. Her residency in Rauma is part of European-wide ’artists in context ­ map XXL’ ­programme which is coordinated by the Pépinières européennes pour jeunes artistes organization.

Catriona Shaw's artistic project in Rauma proceeds in the following stages: starting with an exhibition of her drawings, she invites a selection of social groups of varying ages and asks for their interpretations of the drawing series on display. The discussions in exhibition space are to be documented by SEKK (Satakunta Movies Centre). After the show Catriona will develop several storyboards, based on the resulting stories, which will be made into one or several short films. These shall be produced together with an amateur actors group and other groups in January, and the entire project, drawings, documentation, short films, will be displayed at Lönnström Art Museum in January 27 - March 5, 2006.
