Elena Schelkova. Knitted and Planed, 2004

Elena Schelchkova has been specializing in ethnographic dolls. The artist directed the puppet workshops for school children in Rauma Freinet School, Rauma Lyseo primary school and in Pori Multi-Cultural Centre (in collaboration with Elävät nuket association, Satakunta Network for Children’s Culture and photographer Pia Bartch). In addition, workshops for adults were held at the Lönnström Art Museum. Complete dolls (70 pieces) were exhibited on the trees of the museum yard. Later in the following summer some of the dolls were at Lönnström Art Museum’s exhibition “Virkaten ja höyläten” (“Knitted and Planed”)
