Daniel Gwirtzman from New York arrived at Rauma with two other dancers from the Daniel Gwirtzman Dance Company; Jason Ignacion and Cary McWilliam. They started with performing at Anundila Sguare and arranging a dance course in Central Park of Rauma during an international happening weekend 7th – 8th of September. Purpose of the project was to introduce dance art to people who are not familiar with it beforehand. During the residence Gwirtzman planned 1,5 hours long choreography Evolution, which reflected Rauma, it’s history and people. In September and October Gwirtzman, Ignacio and McWilliam worked with a group of 60 people: Rauma Normal School children, ages of 7 – 13, as well with teenagers and adults who were interested in dance. They rehearsed Evolution choreography and a final performance was held at Rauma Hall on 30th October 2002.
