Sven Eggers (b. 1972 DE)
The German architect Sven Eggers’ (b.1972) The Great Garden Project involved various events. On 19th of May Eggers directed a successful environmental art workshop for Meri-Pori secondary school students. In addition, in May-June Eggers, guided walking and discussion tours, which focused on how outsiders see the city of Rauma. Länsi Film Centre was filming the tours for an introduction video of the Raumars ry – Artist in Residence Programme.
In July, Eggers took part in setting up a cultural and art kiosk called Kulta. Kulta is a place where citizens get information about different art and culture events taking place in Satakunta. In addition the kiosk and the yard are meant to act as a space for different events from shadow theatre to seminars. On the yard Eggers made an information board and Odotushuone-environmental installation which consisted of park benches and signs.
Raumars’ actions and Eggers’ project was also noticed at the national level. TV2's cultural news editor Tuomas Tiainen visited Rauma, filming and interviewing. Raumars’ contribution was seen in the news at 24.6.2004.
